1993 – 2003

Surgical and intensive care training in the South West of England and Australia and attained fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).

Awarded an MD from Bristol University for endoscopic ultrasound thesis.

Selected for a year-long laparoscopic training fellowship in the prestigious Royal Brisbane Hospital, Australia to work with pioneers in laparoscopic surgery and learn the latest techniques in weight loss surgery, anti-reflux (hiatus hernia) surgery, bile-duct surgery and other keyhole surgery techniques.


Appointed as a consultant surgeon in Southmead, Frenchay and the BRI hospital in Bristol and set up a weight-loss surgery service which has now treated over 1000 patients.

2003 – 2013

First female surgeon to be appointed to the prestigious and historic Moynihan Surgical Society.

The development of a wealth of electronic resources which support her innovative approach to patient care and guide patients through the potentially stressful period of surgery – websites and iPhone apps that are approved by the NHS and available world-wide


Regularly lectures at national and international meetings on laparoscopic and weight-loss surgery and endoscopic ultrasound and trains visiting consultants and trainees in these techniques.
